HOLYOKE: John J. “Jack” Kane, Jr., 96, of Holyoke, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home surrounded by his family. John was born in Holyoke, son of the late John J. Kane, Sr. and Etta (Cronin) Kane. He was proprietor of Kane’s Dairy and was a veteran with the United States Army, where he was a member of Merrill’s Marauders. John was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Heyer) Kane. He leaves a son, John H. Kane; two daughters, JoAnn Slosek and Kathleen Kane and her husband Alan Devenish; his grandchildren, Matthew Slosek and his wife Liza and Lori Beth Greenan and her husband Terry; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Hunter Greenan and John Slosek; and his sister, Rosemary Desgres and her husband Dick. Jack would like to be remembered as a guy who loved to laugh, play cards, travel with his grandchildren and beat the odds at the track. The funeral will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
