WESTFIELD
Judith Ann (Riley) Doherty, age 84, of the Arbors in Westfield, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late A. Kenneth and Alice (Goy) Riley and attended high school at Saint Catherine’s in Richmond, VA before graduating from Brown University in Providence, RI. The former owner of Riley’s Sausage Company in Holyoke, Judy had also worked at ES Sports, Clayton Insurance, and the Yankee Pedlar Inn in Holyoke, and Mestek in Westfield. She worshipped at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holyoke, and was a member of the Board of Directors of Saint Paul’s Nursery School. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at the Arbors in Westfield, Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke, and most especially to Carol Desrochers, for the compassionate and loving care given to Judy. She was the widow of John T. Doherty, who predeceased her in October of 2002. She is survived by two daughters: Robin Doherty Feyre, her husband Robert Feyre, and sons Christopher and Andrew of Westfield; Alison Doherty Dean, her husband Timothy Dean, and their children Caitlin Dean and Ned Dean of Hopkinton MA; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Janice Halvorsen. The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 29th at 10:00a.m. at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Judy to the Alzheimer’s Association-MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd. Waltham MA 02452.
