HOLYOKE: Kathleen (Wallace) Ahern, age 80, of Holyoke, a longtime resident of West Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born in Quincy, daughter of the late John and Catherine (McGee) Wallace and was a retired secretary at Paine Webber/UBS in Springfield. A very giving person, Kathleen was a longtime blood donor and volunteer at the American Red Cross and volunteered for Wheels on Meals. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William Ahern; a son, John Wallace and his wife Carolyn and their children Liam and Ava; one sister, Frances Donoian and her husband Joe; four step daughters, Mary Harman and her husband Matt, Anne Fuller and her husband Thomas, Jane Simpson and her husband Thomas, and Bridget Ahern and her partner Dave Shirley; her niece Mary Ellen Gizelis and her daughters Olivia and Catherine and three grandsons, Michael Simpson, Daniel Simpson and Mark Fuller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 63 Pine Street, West Springfield. Burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Springfield, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or the Sisters of Providence, 5 Gamelin Street, #337, Holyoke, MA 01040.
