Maria A. Melendez

SPRINGFIELD

Maria Antonia Melendez, age 73, of Springfield, formerly of Holyoke, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.  She was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Luis Melendez and Maria Miranda and lived in Springfield with her Daughter Mariluz and her husband Carlos and their children Melissa, Amanda and Robert. Maria was employed as a seamstress at Elco Dress Factory in Holyoke and enjoyed crafting and ceramics. She is survived by 8 children; Luis Santiago, Angel Santiago, Ray Santiago, Maria Santiago, Lisy Melendez, Angel Melendez, Mariluz Melendez, Natasha Rodriguez, she is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was the beloved sister of 15 brothers and sisters residing in Puerto Rico and the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 27^th at 10:00 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield.  Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
