SOUTH HADLEY:  Mary A. (Griffin) Mulvaney, age 89, of South Hadley, passed away peacefully at her lifelong home on Friday, November 24, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Lawrence T. and Catherine (Brosnan) Griffin and was a 1946 graduate of South Hadley High School.  A Registered Nurse for many years, Mary graduated from the former Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. During her career, she worked at Providence Hospital, Holyoke Hospital, and the former Falls Nursing Home in South Hadley, retiring in 1990.  Mary was a dedicated lifelong communicant of St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo F. Mulvaney on June 20, 2010; a son, Larry Mulvaney in 2004, and a brother Thomas Griffin in 2008.   Mary is survived by six children; Leo F. Mulvaney, Jr. and wife Diane of South Hadley, James Mulvaney of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Michael Mulvaney of South Hadley, Patrick Mulvaney and wife Paula of Holyoke, Mary Mulvaney and husband William Bevan of Holyoke and Joann Messier and husband Scott of Enfield, CT; six grandchildren, Kathryn Bail and husband Jeff, Michael Mulvaney, Emma (Mulvaney) Messier and husband Christopher, Jack Mulvaney, Nathaniel Messier and Declan Messier; three great grandchildren, Molly and Kiley Bail and Ian Mulvaney-Flores.  The Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 9 East Parkview Drive, South Hadley. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery, South Hadley.   Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish, 9 East Parkview Drive, South Hadley, MA 01075 or to Friends of the Soldiers Home in Holyoke, Inc., P.O. Box 1338, Holyoke, MA 01041.
