Mary G. (Hennessey) Ferro

HOLYOKE

Mary G. (Hennessey) Ferro, age 97 of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Stevens) Hennessey, and was educated in the former Saint Jerome schools. Mary was a lifelong resident of Holyoke and was a longtime communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church. She was a former member of the Gaels Mothers Club and the Sacred Heart Sodality. Mary was the widow of Joseph A. Ferro who died on July 17, 2000. She is survived by three sons: Joseph A. Ferro, Jr. and his wife Kelly of South Hadley, Raymond S. Ferro and his wife Pat of Granby, and Robert F. Ferro of Holyoke; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy St. Jean of Chicopee; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by five brothers Edward, Raymond, John, William, and George Hennessey, and a sister Rita Cichon. The Ferro family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Willimansett Center West for the compassionate care they provided to Mary. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 11 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
