HOLYOKE: Mary Judith (Harrison) Kaplan, age 72, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Belchertown. She was born in Newport, RI, daughter of the late John and Miriam (Doherty) Harrison and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Judy was a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from American International College. She later received a Master’s in Business Administration from Western New England College. Judy was employed as a nurse at Holyoke Hospital, a Clinical Director at Ludlow Hospital, Director of Quality Management at Springfield Municipal Hospital, Director of Quality Management at Charles River Hospital West, Director of Clinical Services at Capuano Home Health, and later as the Administrator at Staff Builders Tender Loving Care. She was past president of the Massachusetts Nurses Association and a longtime communicant of Mater Dolorosa Parish. Her husband Peter P. Kaplan predeceased her on October 24, 2016. Judy is survived by a daughter, Kelly J. Keeler and her husband Michael of Belchertown; 3 grandchildren, Alyssa, Brooklyn, and Rebecca Keeler; 5 siblings, Richard Harrison and wife Sandra of Mystic, CT, Joanne Henry and husband Harold of Harwich, Susan Weber and husband James of IL, Linda Savage and husband Robert of Westhampton, John Harrison of Holyoke and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Harrison. Heartfelt everlasting appreciation and gratitude to our (Mom) Terry Keeler for her offering of a prayer vigil alongside Judy during her time of transition. The Funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, 23 Sycamore Street. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley.
