Michael T. Mathieu

Michael T. “Matty” Mathieu, age 57, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019. He was born in Holyoke and grew up in the South End of Springfield; Michael also spent many years living on The Cape. He will always be remembered by his smile and beautiful blue eyes. Matty was a friend like no other and always made everyone laugh. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Leo and Irene Mathieu, his grandmother Anna Kennedy, his mother, Marianne Skala; and his brother, Mark Mathieu. He will be missed by his father, Donald Mathieu and step-mother Sally Mathieu of Holyoke; his sons, Michael Lakritz of South Hadley and Dakota Mathieu of New Bedford; and his daughter, Haley Mathieu of Westfield; as well as his sisters, Dori Mathieu of Westfield and Jodi Skala of Suffield, CT. Matty also leaves behind his two nieces, Heather and Tawnya; his two nephews, Mark and Jonathan; and many great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
