BERLIN, CT
Ortrud Elsa “Trudy” Sharman age 84, of Berlin Connecticut, passed away peacefully Saturday August 24, 2019. Trudy was born and grew up in Springfield, MA and graduated from Springfield Tech High School, Class of 1953. She was the daughter of the late Austin E. and Erna A. (Schulz) Sharman. Trudy was a volunteer at many local hospitals over the years since she was 16 years old. An avid genealogist, she researched the Sharman family for over 40 years. She loved flower gardening and her home in Blandford, MA reflected her love of nature and wildlife. Trudy had a zest for adventure that lasted into her later years and never ceased to amaze her family and friends. At age 83 she would still drive herself to Canada. She is survived by her son John Hillgrove of Vermont; her daughter, Karen Hook and her husband David; three grandchildren: Hannah, Braedon, and Abigail. All funeral services are private. The family would like to thank Jefferson House and Hospice for their extraordinary and compassionate care during her stay.
