Patricia “Patsy” (Mitchell) Glidden, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on June 23, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born on March 17, 1943 to Anne T. (O’Connor) Mitchell and William T. Mitchell. A graduate of Sacred Heart High School and the Providence Hospital School of Nursing, she enjoyed a nursing career that spanned 40 years. A lifelong Holyoker, Patsy was a friend to many, and a steadfast and reassuring presence in the lives of her loved ones. She was an avid Boston sports fan. She was a devoted mother to two daughters, Beth and Kristen, who were a source of immense pride and happiness in her life. For the past twenty years, she most cherished her role as “Grandma Patsy,” making frequent trips from Holyoke to New York to be with her daughters and six grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the great joys of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to show them how much she loved them. She was a vivacious, funny, generous, deeply loving woman. She lived a full life, and was a gift to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed. She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Beth Bartley and son-in-law Myles; her daughter Kristen Krestik and son-in-law Tom; her grandchildren Anna Bartley, Michael Bartley, Myles William Bartley, Meredith Krestik, Caroline Krestik, and Henry Krestik; her brother Tom Mitchell and sister-in-law Sylvia; her sister Maureen Casavant and brother-in-law David; her beloved aunt Helen Hetu; her nieces Kerry Higgins (spouse: Chris), Katie Morneau (spouse: Matt), Laura Mitchell, Lisa Glidden Wykowski (spouse: Edward), Julia Glidden Murphy (spouse: Colin), and Kelly Glidden O’Connor (spouse: Thomas); her nephews Matthew Mitchell (spouse: Beth), Michael Mitchell, and David Glidden (spouse: Michelle); and many dear cousins and lifelong friends. The funeral will be held Thursday, June 27th at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery.
