Patricia Mary (Dean) Young

Patricia Mary (Dean) Young, age 81, of Holyoke, died Sunday September 30, 2018 in her home. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Eugene J. and Nora E. (Fitzgerald) Dean, and was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Patricia was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Early on she enjoyed working at the cosmetics counter at Woolworth’s before her favorite job of all, becoming a fulltime mother and housewife. Pat loved people, bus trips, Bingo, dancing and most of all spending time with her entire family. Family was her greatest love. Along with her husband Owen D. Young, who predeceased her in 1994, they raised five children. Later she enjoyed 10 grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Lucy I. Young of Enfield, CT, Lori A. Bancroft and her husband Richard of Broad Brook, CT, Robert Owen Young and his girlfriend Cheryl of South Hadley, Tammy M. O’Connor and her husband Mike of Middlefield, CT, and Cindy L. Savoy and her husband Deryck of Chester, MA; 10 grandchildren: John Pena, Valori Conley and her husband Kyle, Danielle Bancroft, Sydney Young, Jewel Young, Zephaniah Young, Lily Young, Bobby Young, Dalton Savoy, and Levi Savoy; three brothers: James Dean and his wife Kathy of Easthampton, John Dean and his wife Dianne of Springfield, and Michael “Mickey” Dean; a sister, Nancy Konis of Holyoke; three sisters-in-law: Ella Dean, Kitty Young, Doris Young; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Dean; two sisters, Barbara Dean and Maureen House; and a brother-in-law, Robert Konis; and many “Young” sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The funeral will be held Saturday October 6 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am. Burial will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery, 1558 King Street, Enfield, CT on Tuesday October 9 at 12:30pm. Calling hours are Friday, October 5 from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
