HOLYOKE

Patrick E. Brosnan, 78, died Sunday, June 24, 2018. He was born in Holyoke on January 27, 1940 to the late John and Julia (Sullivan) Brosnan. He was raised and educated in Holyoke, graduating from Holyoke High School. After graduation he served proudly as a Military Police in the U.S. Army stationed in Texas and Georgia. Upon his honorable discharge from the service Pat returned to Holyoke and worked for Pratt and Whitney and was later employed by the U.S Post Office Bulk Mail Center until his retirement in 2002. Pat, a life-long Holyoke resident was also a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of the Cross Church, Holyoke, MA. He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and the American Legion Post 351. Pat took great pride in his Irish heritage and greatly enjoyed his yearly trip traveling to Ireland visiting relatives and friends in the County Kerry Ireland region where his parents were born. He was a devoted son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers John and Thomas. Pat will be greatly missed by his brother Daniel and wife Rosemary, sisters-in-law Joe-Ann Brosnan and Isabel Brosnan. His memory will be forever cherished by his nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Pat’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, Hospice Unit and to the Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts for the devoted care and compassion they provided Pat these past few weeks. The funeral will be held Thursday June 28 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by Mass at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Church. Burial will be held in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke Inc, PO Box 1338, Holyoke MA 01041.
