Paulette Marra

Paulette (Gamache) Marra, 82, of Easthampton, passed away on January 13, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born in St. Jean Port Joli, Quebec, Canada, one of 15 children born to the late Armand and Juliette (Bernier) Gamache. At the age of 12 her family moved to Springfield where she graduated from Cathedral High School and married Donald Marra, her husband of 62 years. They lived in Chicopee for 36 years where they raised their family and attended Assumption Church. Over the years, she worked at Carando’s, Custom Plastics, and Elmcrest Country Club. Paulette was a longtime member of HealthTrax in West Springfield, and an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed weekly Bingo, playing cards, day trips to the casino, and family vacations at Misquamicut Beach. Devoted wife of Donald; loving mother of Kathleen Marra Slepchuk, Daniel Marra, and Kevin Marra, who passed away in 1987. Cherished grandmother of Peter Slepchuk, Jennifer LeCours, Rebecca Smuda, Sarah Smuda, Alec Slepchuk, David Marra, Zachary Slepchuk, and Jonathan Marra; and great-grandmother of 9. She is survived by her sisters: Huguette Westman, Lise Trembley, and Giselle Varney; brothers Denis and Phillipe Gamache, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Jean Paul Gamache, Albert Gamache, Jacques Pierre Gamache, Claude Gamache, Michel Gamache, Aline Fafard, and her twin Rita Aucoin, Jeannette Gamache and her twin Jeannine Parenteau. The funeral will be held Friday January 18 at 8:45am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams Street, Easthampton, at 10:00am. Burial will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Paulette’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
