Ricky J. Gouvan

Ricky James Gouvan, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday May 19, 2019. Ricky Loved to fish and be by water, whether a trickling stream or a raging river, a small backwoods pond or the never ending ocean, he was truly passionate about being outside and fully enjoyed all that mother nature had to offer. He was also content being inside and playing a game of pool. Ricky was one for breaking traditional rules and made up his own variations of the game like "don't knock the 8 off the chalk" and creating his own shots like the "Gouvan Special", always willing to share his knowledge if you were willing to put your quarters up! He also enjoyed analyzing a game of chess, always thinking and liked friendly competition while teaching so many others how to play. Ricky had a passion for music and Loved the Blues & Opera, and was even lead singer in a band when he was younger! Ricky fully appreciated the finer things in life, like dining out at a nice restaurant, he took nothing for granted. Worked hard, Loved hard, always thinking outside the box, and as stubborn as they come, that's how he lived... Loving Partner, Proud Dad & Pepe, Grateful Brother, Ricky leaves behind his life partner, Linda Hewes; his children, Sandra Martin and Anthony Gouvan; his grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Ryan, and Cassondra. He also leaves his siblings, Robin, Norma, Jodi, Sheila, and Sean. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Calling hours will be held Tuesday May 28 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. A service will be held by the family at 6:00pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
