Robert O. Tauscher Sr., 88,a longtime resident of West Holyoke, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Noble Hospital in Westfield. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Walter L. and Elsie A. (Smolinsky) Tauscher and was educated in the local schools. Bob was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a Millwright and Mechanic at Rexam Graphics for many years, retiring in 2002. Bob was a twenty-five year stock car racing driver, and a member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 Camping Club. He enjoyed golf and ballroom dancing. Bob was the widower of Jean D. (Tanguay) Tauscher, who predeceased him in 2008. He is survived by two daughters: Terrie Dickinson and her husband Jan of Westfield, and Debra Johnson of Springfield; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter; one brother, Fred Tauscher of Holyoke; a sister RaeEtta McElwey and her husband Neil of Holyoke, a close friend, Tina Stremp, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a son, Robert O. Tauscher Jr. in 1984, a brother, Harold Tauscher, and two sisters, Shirley Miller and Charlotte Bryden. Committal with USAF Military Honors will be held Thursday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
