HOLYOKE
Roger P. Donoghue, 86, of Holyoke, died on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home surrounded by his family. Roger was born in Holyoke to the late Roger and Mary Ellen (O’Connor) Donoghue and was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Holyoke High School Class of 1949, Holyoke Community College and attended Bryant University. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Roger worked as a Project Manager for the New England Telephone Company for many years. Upon his retirement he worked in the Pro Shop at East Mountain County Club. Roger was an avid golfer, a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club, The Holyoke Lodge of Elks, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Past President and O’Connell and Rohan Award winner, as well as the 2014 Grand Marshall of the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie (Driscoll) Donoghue and three children; David “Archie” Donoghue and his wife Clare of Holyoke, Roger Donoghue and his wife Tara of Concord, MA and Gail Caligaris and her husband John of Holyoke; eight grandchildren, Danny, Brian, Moira , Patrick, Conor, Brendon Donoghue and Matthew and Kate Caligaris; four great grandchildren, Jack, Colin, Noah and Flynn Donoghue; a brother, Jack of Folsom, CA and several nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by three sisters, Peg Donoghue, Elizabeth Cloutier and Mary O’Neill. Rogers family would like to thank the staff of 4th Floor East at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for their compassionate and loving care. The Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke.
