Susan F. (Florio) Porreco, R.N., age 67, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at her home. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Calabrese) Florio and was a graduate of Technical High School in Springfield and the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse, Susan worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes as a wellness nurse. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer for the R.C.I.A. Program. Susan was also a former Girl Scout Leader. Susan is survived by her husband, James L. Porreco; two daughters, Katherine E. Connor and her husband Leeon of Westfield, and Amanda L. Porreco of Holyoke and her boyfriend Nathaniel Gorham of Springfield; two grandchildren, Rachel C. and Olivia C. Connor of Westfield; and one brother, Michael R. Florio of Orleans. Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by a sister, Helen Scarfe, a sister-in-law, Thuryle Florio and a brother-in-law Thomas Scarfe. The Funeral will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Susan to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
