Thomas P. Guenette Sr., 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous three- year battle with cancer. Tom was born in Holyoke on August 3, 1956, to the late Wilbur “Spike” C. and Ann (Corley) Guenette. He attended Catholic grammar schools in Holyoke and graduated from Granby High School in 1974. Tom worked for 21 years for the former International Paper where he was proud to attain the title Production Supervisor. He most recently worked for the Holyoke Public School System. Tom was truly a family man who enjoyed coaching his three sons in many different sports when they were young and cherished family vacations to Cape Cod. He enjoyed fishing with his sons and was an avid Red Sox and Patriot fan. Tom leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life for 38 years, Mary A. (Fitzell) Guenette of Holyoke; his three sons, Thomas P. Guenette, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Northborough, MA, Matthew M. and his girlfriend Kristen of Holyoke and Ian M. and his wife Jackalyn of Holyoke; two brothers, Bruce Guenette of Ludlow and Patrick Guenette and his wife Patricia of Belchertown; two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Cadieux of South Hadley and Mary Cormier and her husband Marc of Ludlow; his four granddaughters who he enjoyed spending time with and brought him so much joy: Adelyn, Wellsley, Isabelle and Amelia; his in-laws, Laurie, Kevin, Gloria, Sarah, Ernie, Seamus, Tommy and Bridget, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by one brother, Stephen Guenette and his faithful canine companion, Oreo.  The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice for their care and compassion, with a special thanks to Jaime, Pam, Maureen & Karen. A funeral procession will form Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke.
