HOLYOKE
Thomas Edward Zebrowski, age 99, of Holyoke, died peacefully Thursday May 17, 2018 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke. Thomas was born in Holyoke, son of the late George and Sophie (Balczan) Zebrowski and graduated from Holyoke High School. He was a member of the first graduating class of Holyoke Community College in 1948. Tom enlisted in Company F, 104th Infantry Division of the Massachusetts National Guard in Holyoke, which was Federalized in 1941 for active duty. He spent nearly 5 years on battlefields in France, Germany, and Eastern Europe. As part of the 26th Infantry Yankee Division, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated the Mauthausen and Gusen Concentration Camps in Austria. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Church Parish and the former Mater Dolorosa Church, and was active in many local Veterans organizations. Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Emily A. (Szady) Zebrowski. He is survived a daughter, Elaine Z. Wagner and her husband Dennis of Winter Park, FL; two sons: Edward Zebrowski and his wife Carol of Beacon Falls, CT and Thomas M. Zebrowski of Holyoke; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, John Zebrowski, William Zebrowski, and his twin George Zebrowski, and sister Rose Skypek. A calling hour will be held Thursday May 24, 2018 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA from 9:00 to 10:00am. A service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee.
