Amelia Sanchez, age 87, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at Holyoke Hospital, surrounded by her loving children. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Alejandro Sanchez. Born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, Amelia was the daughter of the late Eladio Velez and Maria Alicea. She dedicated 27 years of faithful service to Providence Hospital until her retirement in 2000. A woman of deep and enduring faith, she was also a founding member of the Church of God – Iglesia de Dios Mateo 11:28 in Chicopee, MA. Amelia will be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith who loved the Lord, an exemplary mother, and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Her kindness, strength, and devotion leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was predeceased by her siblings Petra Roldan, Gregorio Roldan, and Angelina Rosado.

She is survived by her beloved sister Ana Velez and her four devoted children and their spouses: • Edwin Sanchez and his wife Aurea of Orlando, FL • Adair Medina and her husband Lucas of Chicopee, MA • Alejandro Sanchez, Jr. and his wife Stefanie of Southwick, MA • Melvin Sanchez and his wife Magdeline of Wilbraham, MA Amelia was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren: Adamelis, Alexander, Alyssa, Daniel, Erica, Gabriella, Samantha, Ashton, Ian, Isaiah, Jacqueline, Batell, Abel, Adair M., and Edwin O. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Ricky, Joshua, Carter, Layne, Maiki, Nolan, Zayvien, Anaja, Ariana, Aloria, Ashyla, and Zenlee, as well as one cherished great-great-granddaughter, Zoey.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church of God – Iglesia de Dios Mateo 11:28, 16 Bolduc Lane, Chicopee, MA. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street, Holyoke, MA.
