HOLYOKE: Anita I. Collins passed away on February 4, 2021 at Mont Marie Health Care Center. Anita was born in Holyoke on November 3, 1923 to parents Henry and Lena Ruel. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Anita met her Husband Charles H. Collins from Old Hickory Tennessee while he was in the military and stationed at Barnes Airport in Westfield. They married on September 18, 1943 and had seventy wonderful years together. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 2013 and her brother William Ruel in 2004. She is survived by her children Charles H. Collins and wife Kathleen of Westfield, William H. Collins and wife Linda of Southampton, Cheryl A. Boman and husband Wayne of Holyoke and Scott J. Collins and fiance Deborah of Methuen. She also had 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Anita will be affectionately remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and true friend. She loved to travel with her husband Charles, once taking a cross country car trip to Arizona to visit her brother and his family, always enjoying every opportunity to gather with her loved ones. Anita loved all kinds of music and also could play the mandolin. Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday February 10th at 12:30pm in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by burial at 2:00pm in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. There are no calling hours. Due to COVID restrictions and limits on gatherings, the family will hold a celebration of Anita's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
