Anita M. (Leber) Fortier, age 92, of Holyoke, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at her home. She was born in Germany in 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Elisabeth (Joch) Leber. She was one of four girls each of whom preceded Anita. She was a seamstress for many years at General Cleaners in Holyoke developing many friendships. Anita enjoyed traveling to her favorite beach in Maine, cooking and knitting, an activity she did up to her very last days. She was survived by her husband Roland Fortier after 68 years of marriage and her sister-in-law, Marie Bianculli. Anita was preceded by her son, Michael Fortier (2000) and his spouse Karen, and is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth and her husband Steven Celetti. Anita was also survived by her four grandchildren, Annemarie and her husband Kevin Hannigan, Michael Fortier and his wife Kaybeth, Victoria Heath and her husband Jared, and Alexander Celetti, along with her two great-grandchildren, Mckenzie and Logan Hannigan. She is also survived by her “adopted” family the Mandevilles, Gerans, and Lumbs as well as many nieces and nephews in the US and Germany. Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 9th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street followed by burial in Saint Jerome Cemetery, both in Holyoke. A celebration of life will take place at The Summit View after the burial. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
