HOLYOKE
Anita (Werenski) Shea passed away on January 14, 2020 at Holyoke Medical Center at the age of 97. She was born in Holyoke on April 14, 1922, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Stec) Werenski, and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She was a strong, hard-working woman who lived a full life. Anita was employed as a clerk for the City of Holyoke, working in the City Clerk’s Office for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. She was a longtime communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church. Anita was the widow of James J. Shea, who died in 1997. She is survived by her step-children, who were her care givers in her later years, Mary Ann Shipman of Huntington and James G. Shea of West Springfield; a son-in-law, Robert Luba of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Karen Luba of Florida, and David Luba and his wife Michelle and their children Makenna, Cole, and Leo of Virginia; a niece, Ardelle Starnadori and her husband Rick of PA; and a grand-niece, Jillian Valese and her husband Nicholas of VA. Besides her parents, Anita was predeceased by her daughter, Carole (Levesque) Luba in 2013; her brothers: Stanley and Theodore Werenski, and a nephew, Theodore Werenski Desorcy. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 13th at 10:00am in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Pitroff Avenue, South Hadley. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
