Ann Ittner Obituary

HOLYOKE

Ann L. Ittner, age 84, of Holyoke passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at home.  Born and raised in Holyoke, MA she graduated from Saint Jerome High School in 1953. During her life she worked at various local businesses as a bookkeeper, eventually retiring from the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce. She and her late husband (Frank P. Ittner Jr.) both loved the beach and were avid readers who often vacationed in Kennebunkport, Maine.  Shortly after her husband passed, she moved to Brewster, MA to be close to the beach, where she was an active volunteer with the Brewster Counsel on Aging and also delivered meals on wheels. Eventually, she returned to her roots in Holyoke where she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her sister. Although some of her children moved to other parts of the country Ann enjoyed traveling to visit with them. Days before she passed Ann had the opportunity to enjoy music, dancing and her favorite drink, a Southern Comfort Manhattan, sweet, straight-up at the Irish Gala in Chicopee with family. If you would like to honor Ann’s memory, please perform an act of kindness for another. Ann is survived by her children: Raeann Thorpe  and her husband Richard of Greenacres, FL; Mark Thibodeau of Kingman, AZ; Paula Thibodeau of Southampton, MA; Kristen Thibodeau of Henderson, NV;  Step-daughters, Susan Rock and Beth Clark; her grandchildren:  Nicole McCorkindale and her partner Justin Bergeron of Holyoke, MA; Matthew Bernier and his wife Nicole of Southington, CT; Marc Bernier of Southington, CT; John P. Strobel of Southampton, MA; Richard Thorpe, III of Manchester, CT; Ryan Thorpe and his wife Agustina of Manchester, CT;  and Jonathan and Jeffery Angers of Holyoke, MA; her great grandchildren: Noah Bernier, Kailee Beaudoin, Alison Bernier of Southington, CT; and Lillian and Adelynn Bergeron of Holyoke, MA as well as her sister, Connie Curran  and her partner Ronald Gershom of Holyoke, MA.  She also leaves her lifelong friend, Mary Conti of Westfield, MA.  Besides her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by a son, David Thibodeau.  A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.  Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery.  A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Ann to Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
