Anthony J. “Tony” Doherty, age 64, of Holyoke, passed away at his home on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late John “Jake” and Viola (Padden) Doherty. Tony was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Western New England College. He was employed as Assistant Dairy Manager at Big Y for many years. He put his heart and soul into his family and spent time researching his ancestry. He loved to play cards and enjoyed listening to music. He was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Tony was determined to fight his illness so that he could meet his granddaughter and cherish the time they spent together. He also enjoyed the company of his beloved grand-dog, Oakley.

Tony is survived by his wife, Mary A. (McAndrews) Doherty; a son, Jonathan Doherty and partner Edward Smith of Brooklyn NY, a daughter, Katlyn Pane and husband Ashton Pane of Enfield CT, a granddaughter, Brooklyn Pane; brothers-in-law, William McAndrews of Germany, Edward and AnnMarie McAndrews of Longmeadow MA, George McAndrews of Holyoke; sister-in-law, Pamela McAndrews; nieces and nephews: Kelly Dupont, Bridgette, Devan, Austin, and Billy McAndrews, Brian Doherty, Rashel Haniffy, David Dupont (Patti Cavanaugh), Matthew Dupont (Brandy), Corey McAndrews (Laura Mackey), and Megan Haniffy (David Lapalm); his great nephews and nieces, Niegel, Laila, and Liberty Dupont, Colin McAndrews. Besides his parents, Tony was predeceased by a brother, John Doherty, a sister, Maureen Dupont, brothers-in-law, Steven and Robert McAndrews, and nephews, Justin and Michael McAndrews.

Tony’s family wants to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who extended their help and support during Tony’s 18-month battle with cancer. The funeral will be held Saturday, June 13 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Interment will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery.
