Aura DeJesus Rojas

Aura DeJesus Rojas, age 88, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Holyoke Medical Center.  She was born and educated in Marinilla, Colombia, moving to Holyoke, MA in 1972.  Aura was the daughter of the late Luis A. and Anna M. (Cardona) Agudelo.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and belonged to their prayer group.  Though she worked at Graham Manufacturing, her focus was always her family.  Beloved matriarch, she set a loving example for several generations, and she prayed for every family member.   Aura was a talented seamstress, and would make clothing and accessories.  She loved large family parties with good food, music and dancing, and also loved her pets.  When life was tough, Aura faced her challenges head on with strength and dignity.  She leaves her family as an example of faith and courage with an everlasting legacy of love.  Aura is survived by her husband of 72 years, Pedro Luis Rojas; her children: Ligia Calderon, Martha S. Rivera (Victor), Luis Gonzalo Rojas (Martha), Luz M. Rojas, Reinaldo Rojas, Ignacio Rojas (Maria), Pedro P. Rojas (Carmen), Carlos M. Rojas (Karen), Jesus Rojas, and Jorge Rojas as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Margo Acevedo (Miguel).  Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street.  The Funeral will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Aura to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701.
