Avice M. (Nelson) Hebert

Avice M. (Nelson) Hebert, 96, of Mansfield, longtime resident of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at her home. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (O’Hara) Nelson and sister of the late Charles Nelson and Howard Nelson, was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, and was a graduate of the former Holy Name High School in Chicopee. Avice was a retired executive secretary at Atlas Copco in Holyoke, and prior to that had worked at Park National Bank and Richard Bowler Real Estate office. She was a longtime organist at the former Saint Mary’s Church and Westover ARB in Chicopee. Avice is the widow of Leonard A. Hebert who predeceased her on November 4, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Aline M. Hebert and her husband George F. McLaughlin III of Mansfield. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 9th at 11:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St., both in Holyoke. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Dominican Nuns, 1430 Riverdale St., West Springfield, MA 01089.
