It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara LaFortune she passed away on Saturday August 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Orange, MA in 1934 then moved to Holyoke in 1955. She was the daughter of Phillip and Ida Johnson of Orange, MA.

She retired from Specialty Loose Leaf formally National Blank Book of Holyoke, MA in 1997. Barbara was an avid reader and loved making puzzles. She loved going to Ocean Beach in New London, CT, and her yearly trips with her daughter’s and granddaughter Samantha. And spending time with her family.

She is survived by son Jonathan LaFortune, Frederick LaFortune, III his wife Lisa, and Eric LaFortune his wife Christine. Her daughter’s Maureen Owsiak and her late husband Frank, and Michelle Kane her husband William Kane and her Daughter in law Nora LaFortune. She leaves behind 12 grand children and 20 great grand children. She also leaves behind her faithful cat Bogart.

​She’s predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Frederick LaFortune in 2008 her son’s Dennis LaFortune in 1978 and Craig LaFortune in 2024.

The funeral home service will be held on Friday August 8 at 10:00am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by burial in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 8:30 to 10:00am.
