HOLYOKE: Barbara (Pudlo) Stelmach, age 83, of Holyoke, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Holyoke Medical Center. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Peter and Olympia (Strzempek) Pudlo and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Barbara was retired from the Holyoke Public School System. She was a former parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Parish, currently attending Saint Jerome Church. Barbara was a member of the 1st Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She adored her family, looking forward to every gathering. Barbara was truly a second mother to so many of us. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Stelmach in 1982: Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by all ten of her siblings: Phyllis Flynn, Evelyn Krisak, Helen Zajchowski, Adele Chmura, Stasia Skoczylas, Francis, Edmund, Theodore, Albin, and Chester Pudlo. Barbara is survived by many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Jean. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the ER Staff of Holyoke Medical Center, as well as thank Moira and Lorri of Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice. The funeral will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30am.
