With a heavy heart, we announced the unexpected passing of Benny Pecia who left us on April 1, 2025 at the young age of 91. He was born on May 24, 1933 to the late Jan and Anna Pecia. He was a proud 40 year employee at the Spalding Company, making golf clubs for professionals. Benny and his wife enjoyed numerous cruises, trips to Mohegan Sun, and recent Aruba vacations with family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jane of 68 years and his three children; Susan and Michael Ryan, Debbie Smethurst and James and Ellen Pecia; seven grandchildren and three great granddaughters. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Helen Slawski and Gina Groom, brother Tadeuz Pecia, and son-in-law Kris Smethurst. The funeral will be held on Monday April 7 at 10:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church. Burial will take place in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours are Monday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charities of your choice.
