Candida Rosa Rivera

Candida Rosa Rivera, age 89, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Manuel Rivera and Angelina Rodriguez, and was the widow of Sergio De Jesus. She had lived in Massachusetts for over 44 years, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother! She had an exceptional aptitude for gardening and growing plants successfully, and was an amazing cook. Candida enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, and was very spiritual with her bible always by her side open to Psalm 23. Candida was predeceased by her sister, Carmen Rodriguez along with her daughters and son: Lisa Rivera, Carmen Lydia De Jesus, and Ramon De Jesus. She is survived by her children: Eugenia Rivera, Elias Rivera, Macario Rivera, Antonia Chasse, Maria De Jesus, Jorge Luis De Jesus, Luis Alberto De Jesus, and Magali De Jesus along with their husbands, wives and children. Candida also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 12th from 4 to 7 pm at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13th at 10 am. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery West, 210 Rock Valley Road, Holyoke. Masks and social distancing are required for all services.
