Charles A. Hunt, age 84, took his final flight into the horizon of eternity on May 1, 2026.
Charles was born on October 20, 1941, in Owingsville, Kentucky, where his life journey began—a journey defined by service, dedication, and quiet strength.
Charles honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as a C-130 Loadmaster Superintendent and Fire Protection Supervisor. His work required precision, discipline, and courage, and he carried those qualities with him throughout his life. Even after his military service, he continued caring for others as a Civil Service Fire Suppression Inspector at Westover Air Force Reserve Base, always committed to keeping people safe.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra L. Hunt; his children, Charles (Sherri) Hunt of Universal City, Texas; Stephanie (Dennis) Burroughs of North Augusta, South Carolina; and Michael (Leanne) Hunt of Belchertown, Massachusetts.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessica (Michael) Hunt-Khan of Schertz, Texas; Laura (Kenny) Reyes of Converse, Texas; Kristen (Alexander) Hunt-Rodriquez of Windcrest, Texas; Lauren (Brad) Alston of Aiken, South Carolina; Meagan (Abraham) Alcala of Schertz, Texas; Blane (Rita) Burroughs of Graniteville, South Carolina; Bridgette Hasbrouck and Morgan Hunt, both of Belchertown, Massachusetts; along with 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom knew and loved him as “Papaw.”
He is further survived by his sisters, Debbie (Jerry) Sexton and Marcella (Dudley) Rodgers, both of Owingsville, Kentucky; along with two brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucille Hunt, and his sisters, Miranda Ross, Peggy White, and Shirley Ratcliff.
Charles will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his devoted service to his country, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with his family.
Private services will be held for immediate family at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Linda Manor Activities Center, 345 Haydenville Road, Leeds, MA 01053, in honor of the care and support provided to Charles and Sandra.
