HOLYOKE
Charles Robert Lobik, 88, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021 at Renaissance Manor on Cabot. Charles was born in Monson, MA son of the late Charles C. and Dorothy J. (Roberts) Lobik.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Charles was the longtime Grounds Foreman at Holyoke Community College. During retirement he could often be found spending time outdoors, picking mushrooms, taking bike rides and walks. He was an outdoorsmen at heart. The highlight of his life was spending time with his five grandchildren, enjoying many adventures and much laughter. He was everyone’s “Papa.” Where there was laughter, Papa could be found.
He was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Florence J. (Jolivet) Lobik on May 28, 2020. His true devotion was to his wife of 68 years. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia J. Horne of Hampden, MA; a son, Stephen C. Lobik and his wife Lisa of Monson, MA; 5 grandchildren: MacGregor Horne, Nathan Horne, Nicholas Lobik, Nathaniel Lobik, and Camille Lobik; three brothers: James Lobik and his wife Dorothy of Armbrook Village in Westfield, MA, John Lobik and his late wife, Joanne of Greenfield, and Donald Lobik and his wife Nancy of Rome, Georgia. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews that he adored.
Private Services for Charles and Florence will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
