HOLYOKE
Charles R. Yelle, 94, passed away on Friday October 8, 2021 at Daybrook Village in Holyoke. He was born October 14, 1926 in Holyoke, a son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Domingue) Yelle and attended Chicopee schools. Charles was a 48 year Store Keeper at National Blank Book Company in Holyoke. He was also a Volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Southampton. A member of a pitch league at the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard. In his free time, Charles enjoyed gardening, playing cards and being with his family. He was a widower of Doris A. (Gladu) Yelle, who passed away in 1997. Charles is survived by a daughter, Denise M. Korenewsky and her husband Wesley of Belchertown, and his sister Leona Larouere of Youngstown Ohio; nine grandchildren: Kenneth and Richard Lafleur, David and Peter Lundgren, Sean and Charles Marshall, Heather Longley, Aaron and Matthew Korenewsky; seven great grandchildren: Jarrett, Emmie, Caleb, Cheyanne, Noah, Ella and Brie. And several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Charles was predeceased by a daughter, Donna M. Marshall, and his siblings: Ralph, Rita, and Julie. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, Pop pop, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend, who loved to help others with whatever they may need. A Prayer Service will be held for Charles on Monday, October 18th at 11:00 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. A calling hour will be held prior to the service on Monday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
