Claire Doris Vermette

Claire Doris (Senecal) Vermette, age 100, of Amherst, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Center for Extended Care. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Daviau) Senecal, and was educated in local schools. Claire was the retired proprietor of the former Claire’s Ceramics Shop in Granby, and was a member of the Pioneer Valley Ceramic Association. She was the widow of Louis J. Vermette, who died on August 28, 2001. Claire is survived by four children: Lois Wenzel, Lee P. Vermette, Suzanne Vitkus, and Jean Watts; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and a brother, Wally Senecal. All services were private and handled by the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's New England, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
