Constance Gwozdz, 86, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Josephine and William Gwozdz. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Dorothy Gwozdz. She is also lovingly remembered by her Cousin Michael Dorunda and his family, her cousin Christine Mertens and her family, and by her lifelong friend Rosemary Wesloski and her husband Jack. She is also remembered by a multitude of cousins and friends. Connie was a lifelong resident of Holyoke. She graduated from Mater Dolorosa School in 1952, and Holyoke High School in 1956. Then she spent her whole work life in Holyoke. She often commented that she worked in one block in downtown, starting at the Holyoke Credit Bureau on High Street, then around the corner to Dorothy Dodd’s on Suffolk Street, and around the corner again to Holyoke City Hall on High Street where she ended her working career as Assistant Auditor. Her life was full of family, fun and creativity. She was kind, sweet, funny and incredibly generous, always wanting to give and share. She hosted legendary 4th of July backyard barbecues, Christmas Eve celebrations complete with the hundreds of home-made pierogis, and many fun family visits and activities with her large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed traveling to California, Hawaii, Canada, Ireland, and her trip of a lifetime to Poland. Connie was a woman of many talents. She was the family photographer beginning in 1957 with a movie camera to film our grandparents 50th anniversary party! She went on from there taking pictures at any and all family events. She created incredible Stained-Glass Lamp shades, angels, window hangings which she shared with family and friends. She made many beautiful needlepoint creations. She was an early adopter of Apple Computers and became the family guru. Connie will be remembered with love by everyone who knew her.
