Constance Caroline “Connie” Sears, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Daniel E. and Louise (Profiglio) Cavanaugh, and the second oldest of 43 grandchildren, many of whom survive her. A 1951 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Connie was a self-educated woman. She held many jobs including office manager for Dr. O’Brien in Holyoke, the original office manager of Medical West in Chicopee, Software implementation for Standard Systems in Framingham, and Senior Clerk at First Pioneer Credit. She was a past president of St. Gerards Mothers Club, and past President of Medical Assistants Association of Western Massachusetts. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Holyoke and enjoyed BINGO and trips to the casino. She was known for her great St. Patrick’s Day Parade parties, Connie was often sought after for her famous potato salad and homemade brownies. Connie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Patrick E. Sears in 2016, and her brother Daniel E. Cavanaugh, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Mary Morris and her husband Dave of Easthampton; her son Michael Sears of Boston; three grandchildren: Aaron Morris and his wife Stephanie of Holyoke, Sheila Gaffey and her husband Ryan of Shrewsbury, and Scott Matejek-Morris and his husband Jimmy of Medford; five great- grandchildren: Natalie Morris, Keira Morris, Norah, Caleigh, and Andrew Gaffey; a sister-in-law Bridget “Bernie” Cavanaugh of Holyoke, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Mary Sears of Virginia; 15 nieces and nephews; and a long time family friend Missy Kozuch. The funeral will be held Thursday March 6 at 10:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will take place in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:00am to 10:30am in the funeral home.
