Cynthia Strain Obituary

Cynthia Ann (Neumann) Strain, age 85, of Granby, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 8, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born in Holyoke, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Margaret (Sullivan) Neumann, and was a 1953 graduate of Holyoke High School. Cynthia lived with her family in Granby for 66 years, and formed many lasting friendships in her community. She worked at Inter-All Corp for many years and was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Cynthia lived a very full life and enjoyed the simple pleasures: lunches at the Granby Senior Center, chatting with friends and family, being outside and gardening, and spending her summers camping at Salisbury Beach. She loved her family and pets deeply and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Cynthia was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Daniel F. Strain, earlier this year. She is survived by her three daughters: Joyce Gumlaw and her husband Michael of Westfield, Paula Cole and her husband John of Quincy, and Mary Roy and her husband Gerard of Chicopee; five grandchildren: Megan Cole Brahim (Nasser), Katie Cole (Graham), Matthew Roy, Michael Roy (DeAndra), and Nicholas Roy; two great grandchildren: Leila Brahim and Oliver Roy; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her sister and best friend, Margaret (Peggy) Morton, and was predeceased by her brother Charles (Donald) Neumann.

Calling hours will be held at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke from 9-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State Street in Granby.
