Dario Ribadeneyra Obituary

Dario Augusto Ribadeneyra, more affectionately known by his loved ones as Papi, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family on November 24th.

Born on December 18th, 1928 in Guayaquil, Ecuador; Dario spent his younger years playing soccer, basketball and helping to raise his younger siblings Rosa Ramos, Cecilia Chavez, Nancy Aviles, Eduardo, Fernando (deceased), Pablo, and Flavio Ribadeneyra. A businessman and accountant, Dario made a career for himself, working for the Ecuadorian Government Treasury Department in Quito.

Dario decided America would provide a better life for his wife Martha, children and future generations and moved the family to the US, where they settled in Massachusetts. Dario and Martha worked hard and made sacrifices to ensure their children, many siblings and friends could build a good life in their new country. Dario worked at Weyerhaeuser Company which enabled him to save money and eventually buy a house. Dario even started his own bicycle business. When he wasn’t repairing bikes, catching soccer games or a novella on TV, he enjoyed spending time with his big blended Ecua family. Dario was there for every family event; every graduation, baptism, wedding, soccer game, basketball game and every holiday.  Everything he did was for his family.  Even in his later years, Dario was still always the life of the party and on the dance floor, bringing his smile, jokes, and endless energy with him wherever he went.

He was known for his big heart and generosity; everyone was his “amigo”. One of his greatest strengths was his ability to forgive and he was never afraid of showing his emotions. His larger than life spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of the many lives he touched. “Le  queremos mucho Papi!”

Dario Augusto leaves behind his wife of 66 years, the love of his life, Martha Susana Almeida Ribadeneyra, his son and daughter-in-law Roque and Margie Ribadeneyra, his daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Larry Grenier, his daughter and son-in-law Catalina and Thomas Zajac,  his daughter and son-in-law Maria and Chuck Suglia, his son Dr. John Ribadeneyra and his partner Corenna Howard, his daughter and son-in-law Maria and James Marchia, his daughter and son-in-law Erica Christina and Michael Simpson, and son and daughter in law James and Amber Ribadeneyra. He also leaves behind his beloved 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, of which he adored, along with his loving siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As Dario always said, “Siempre para adelante, nunca para atrás” Always move forward, never backwards. We will move forward with you forever in our hearts Papi.

A Memorial service will be held for immediate family only St Rose de Lima church.  Due to Covid, a celebration of his life with extended family and friends will be held at a future date and time.
