David G. Ewing, age 71, of Easthampton, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Herbert F. and June M. (Ferguson) Ewing and was educated in Chicopee schools. David had worked as a machine operator at Yankee Candle Company, and also as a manager at Walgreens. After retirement, he worked as a driver for Riverside Industries. David lived in Easthampton for the past 8 years and prior to that had lived in both Chicopee and South Hadley. He enjoyed playing the piano at community events and participating in open-mic sessions as a guitar and piano player. David enjoyed gardening in the Community Gardens in his residential association. Over the years, he worshipped at Faith United Methodist Church in Chicopee. David is survived by his wife of 21 years, Francine E. (McCarthy) Ewing; four sons: Christopher and his wife Allison of West Hartford, CT, Sean of West Springfield, Daniel and his wife Kathleen of Monson, and Matthew of Springfield; a daughter, Kaitlin and her fiancé Ben of Springfield; six grandchildren: Tristan, Duncan, Fiona, Jack, Alexander, and Michael; two step-children: Annmarie McCarthy of Westfield, and Frank Bellaire of Longmeadow; two brothers: Gary and his wife Debbie of Belchertown, and Scott and his wife Pam of Chicopee; two sisters: Julie Mis and her husband Bill of Westfield, and Kristy Dunning and her husband Mike of South Hadley; several nieces and nephews; and his lifelong best friend, Dan Reed of Holyoke. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by a sister, Debra Cushing, and a niece, Dana Cushing. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 1 to 4 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be at a later date.
