David M. Hennessey Obituary
David M. Hennessey died in the early morning of July 14th after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer and other complications. He embraced the final chapter of his life with serenity and acceptance. David was born on September 21, 1968 to the late Anne L. Hennessey who he missed very much since her passing in 2019. He was born and raised in Holyoke and attended Holyoke Public Schools including Lynch and Holyoke High School where he was a proud graduate of the class of 1986. David loved being on the Holyoke High School track team, where his passion for running was discovered. He continued running after high school with local running groups and he competed in many local races with the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race being one of his favorites. He was also an avid bicyclist. David especially enjoyed spending time with his best friend since 5th grade, Michael Baillargeron. He enjoyed many different genres of music especially rock and pop, with Pink Floyd being one of his favorites. He also enjoyed going to concerts and monster truck shows, watching all Boston sports (like his mom), collecting baseball cards, and watching NASCAR racing. David was very good with trivia and could provide facts and dates like no other.
David loved cats and he leaves behind his beloved calico cat Bria. David leaves his aunts Patricia K. Hennessey and Kathleen M. Perry, cousins Tricia M. Hennessey (Russ) and Kimberly A. Izquierdo (Luiz) and his cherished second cousins Wesley and Natalie Izquierdo, his best friend Mike, and family friend Jane Myslinski. He is predeceased by his mom Anne, grandparents Anne and Patrick Hennessey and his uncle William F. Hennessey.
The funeral will be held on Friday July 18 at 10:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Jerome Church at 10:30am. Burial will take place in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Visitation is Friday morning from 9:00am to 10:00am.
