Dennis Michael Murphy, age 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Holyoke Medical Center on July 30th 2025. He was born in 1949 at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, Ct. to the late Michael and Barbara (Johnson) Murphy. He was a graduate of Dean Technical High School. After high school he worked at Adam’s Landscaping as a landscaper. He later worked at The Dominican Nun’s Monastery in West Springfield. He then worked at Digital in Springfield and Falcetti and Clark Electrical Supply for many years. He then worked at Lynch Middle School as head custodian until his retirement. Dennis is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Lambert) for 45 years.He will be missed by his children, daughters Barbara Murphy Valentine, Katherine Murphy-Schonlaw (Doug), and his son Michael. Dennis was proud of his grandchildren Alexandra, Samantha, Colin, and soon to be born Natalie. Dennis leaves behind two brothers and their wives Craig (Joanne), Keith (Alice) and sister Karen Murphy Eckel. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. He also left behind Samantha’s father Tyler Nelson. Dennis loved his family, extended family and friends. He enjoyed watching and going to NASCAR Races, fishing and gardening, and hanging out with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. The Funeral will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Church. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday August 6th from 5 to 7pm at the Barry J Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in his honor or donate to Our Lady of the Cross Church in memory of Dennis Murphy.
