WESTFIELD
Donald Leo Cousineau, age 87, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Donald was born in Holyoke, son of the late Leo and Rita (LaBrecque) Cousineau. He served 8 years in the Massachusetts Air National Guard and was a retired tool maker for the former National Blank Book, later known as Avery Dennison. Donald had been an avid golfer. He played for the Company league at Southampton CC for many years. In his younger years, he enjoyed the love of the outdoors; fishing, hunting, going on hikes and picnics with his children. He got the greatest joy from spending time with his family, working in his yard, building birdhouses, gardening and his yearly trips to Old Orchard Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joann (Gwozdz) Cousineau; three sons: Michael Cousineau and his wife Laurie of Florida, Kenneth Cousineau and his wife Michele of Westfield, and James Cousineau and his wife Kathy Jean of Westfield; a daughter, Carin Collier and her husband Brian of Holyoke; 11 grandchildren: Colby Cousineau (Emily), Kayla Collier (Ricky), Jennifer Cousineau, Danielle Porto (Juan), Alyssa Kelly (Tyler), Noah Cousineau (Angie), Kathryn Collier (AJ), Matthew Cousineau, Justin Cousineau, Tyler Monczka, Ryan Monczka; 4 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Leah, Skylar and Payton; a brother, Paul Cousineau and his wife Gail; three sisters: Joan Muse and her husband Joseph, Barbara Lucchessi and Diane Monroe and her husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by a brother “Pete” Allen Cousineau.
A funeral service will be held for Donald on Monday, October 25 at 11:00am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00.
