Donald G. Finney

Donald Granville Finney, age 84, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at home on Friday February 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts son of the late Windsor L. and Irma (Foster) Finney. He attended business school and has worked in banking for most of his career. Don enjoyed sailing, golfing, and served on the Board of Directors for the Holyoke VNA for many years, as well as being a lifelong member of the Elks. He was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Holyoke. He is survived by the love of his life, whom he married August 17, 1957 in Swampscott, MA, Jane (Bettger) Finney; three daughters: Patricia A. Finney, Cheryl Griswold and her husband Jeff, and Dawn Purcell and her husband Douglas; five grandchildren: Garrett Clark, Laura Henchey, Robert Henchey, Rachel Purcell, and Jackie Purcell; 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:30am in First Lutheran Church, 1810 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held prior to the service in the church from 9:00am to 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to First Lutheran Church, 1810 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
