Doris E. (Reilly) Bronson Obituary
Doris E. (Reilly) Bronson, 83, of Holyoke, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer passed away at Linda Manor (Leeds Ma) on Sunday December 15th, surrounded by her family. Doris, an only child to Doris Elizabeth (Blondin) and Edward J Reilly, was born in Holyoke on May 16th, 1941. Doris would grow up and spend her whole life in Hoy’oke (you do not pronounce the “L” as Doris would always say). Dorey, as she was referred to by her friends and co-workers, received her education in the Holyoke school system, graduated from Holyoke High School and Holyoke Junior College. Doris worked for over 50 years at the Hamden County Registry of Deeds, where she made lifelong friends. When not at work, Doris enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, spending time with her granddaughters, family, and friends, collecting owl figurines, watching the Harry Potter series, Blue Bloods, and the Food Network. Doris created a 30-year tradition of hosting the family Thanksgiving meal at her house, a tradition that we will all miss, though the stories of those dinners will continue forever. Doris is survived by her son Jim, wife Lynne, and granddaughters Madelyn and Laura of Pittsfield, MA and son Matthew, wife Megan and granddaughters Reilly and Mia of Seymour, CT. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James F Bronson, in 2020. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
