Dr. Norman Roy Obituary

Dr. Norman Gerard Roy, age 64, of Easthampton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Pittsfield, son of Theresa (Siok) Roy and the late Norman Roy, attended Housatonic Grammar School, and was a 1974 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington where he played the trumpet. After high school, Norm attended Quinnipiac University (1976) with a Double Major in Biology and Physical Therapy; while studying at Quinnipiac, he co-authored and published a book on Kinesiology. He then graduated from Westfield State College (1978) with a Bachelor's of Science and his Massachusetts Teacher Certification-Biology, General Science. He then attended Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO, where he graduated cum laude with his Doctorate in Chiropractic (December 1983). He taught science at Monument Mountain before a long career in chiropractic care, which included work in several chiropractic offices before opening Roy Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Easthampton in December 1987. Norm was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Parish in Easthampton, and was currently a member and Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to Knights of Columbus #69 in Chicopee; was a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists; was a past ten-year Board of Health Chairman for the City of Easthampton; and achieved the designation of Advanced Proficiency Activator Doctor. Norm was an avid Big E patron, loved the fireplace in the cold New England weather, and enjoyed grilling, had a passion for cooking, playing guitar, reading, studying, and collecting coasters. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in church, and was a member of the former Folk Choir at Sacred Heart in Easthampton. Besides his mother, Theresa, Norm is survived by his wife of almost 36-years, Nancy L. (Bell) Roy; his three children: Christopher N., Jennifer M., and Jessica L. Roy; his brother, Joseph H. Roy and his wife Christine and their two children: Timothy and his wife Meghan, and daughter Meredith and her three children; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Bell; his sister-in-law, Karen Bell; his brother in law, John F. Bell, Jr., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and patients.
