Edward J. Gosselin, Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on December 29, 2024. Edward was born in Northampton, Massachusetts son of the late Edward J. and Alice C. (Hudson) Gosselin, and attended both St. Michaels High School in Northampton and St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield, graduating in 1952. He also attended UMass Amherst before becoming an electrician and member of IBEW Local #7. He was United States Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Ed was a longtime parishioner of Holy Name Parish in Springfield and an active member of the Men’s Club.
He was the widower of AnnMarie (Moran) Gosselin who predeceased him in 2019. Ed is survived by his children: Peggy Ann Wells of Springfield, Kathryn Gosselin of Dracut, MA, David Gosselin of Springfield, Michelle "Mickie" Lempke and her husband William of Holyoke, and Edward "Skip” Gosselin and his partner Linda Goulet of Springfield; two grandsons: Christopher Lempke and Kevin Lempke; and two great-grandsons, Trent Lempke and Shane McCoy. Besides his parents and his wife, Ed was also predeceased by a son-in-law, John Wells in 2018.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 8th at 12:30 pm in Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, on Tuesday, January 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
