After years of proudly yet, humbly living as a free-spirit, our chocolate cake loving dad, Eddie Hernandez, AKA Sensei Golden Eagle, AKA Sensei Budweiser, passed away suddenly at the age of 65. He’s best known for his backyard pig roast and soul-food cooking. The world feels a little quieter now - No more impromptu roastings. No more unexpected side-kicks and karate chops. No more jokes to lighten the mood. No more Saturday morning breakfast vibes jammin’ to Luther Vandross, Earth Wind and Fire, Parliament Funkadelic’s, and no more “Hey, did I tell you I love you today?.” 

Our mother, Marilyn, lost her best friend and life partner of 42 years. Through all the highs and lows, they had each other’s backs and supported one another, whether making life-changing decisions or picking a color for the kitchen walls.Their lives had become their own version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, reliving their youth through games, arcade consoles, candy and popcorn machines, movie nights, and late-night drives. Love like this only happens once in our lifetime.

While we are devastated by his loss, we are forever grateful for the years of love, laughter, and madness he gave us. Our dad left a mark on everyone he met with his kindness, loyalty, generosity, and readiness to help anyone in need. He was always just a phone call away.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; eight children: Shante, EJ, Latoya, Isiah, Dealma, Jordan, Charlene, and Fernando; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Esther; and his siblings, Miguel (Pupo), Carmelo, Jose, and Luis.
