Edward “Eddie” Bernard Lavelle, 77, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born in Leam, Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland, and immigrated with his entire family to Holyoke in 1959. He graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School in 1964 and served in the Army. Eddie was a Distribution Manager for General Cable in South Hadley for 34 years. Then, after retiring, he enjoyed working as a limousine driver for the Limo Connection in West Springfield for ten years. Outside of work and his time with family, Eddie loved gardening, traveling, the New York Giants, and mostly attending sporting events for his grandchildren. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Margaret Lavelle (Bowles), his daughter Julie Doyle of Franklin, MA, sons Eric Lavelle and his wife Kristen of Agawam, MA, and Stephen Lavelle and his wife Elisa of South Hadley, MA. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Maggie and Jack Doyle, Owen and Aiden Lavelle, Patrick and Dylan Lavelle. Eddie is also survived by his sister Bridget of Enfield, CT, brothers Michael of West Yarmouth, MA, Patrick of Holyoke, MA, and Jack of Addison, TX. For many years he was an active member of Blessed Sacrament in Holyoke. His family also wishes to thank Rebecca Jackson for her kind, supportive, and compassionate care for the last three years. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, on Monday August 21st from 9:15 to 11:15 am, followed by Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, at 12 noon. The burial will be private.
