Edwin F. Zabik, age 89, of Holyoke, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke. He was born in Palmer, a son of the late Frank H. and Julia (Bartnik) Zabik, and was educated in the Holyoke schools. After graduating from Holyoke High School, Edwin served in the United States Navy during the Korean War Era. Following his military service, he proudly worked for more than 40 years as a Pressman Foreman for the Holyoke Transcript. Edwin was the widower of Laura E. (Bartlett) Zabik, who predeceased him on October 13, 2015. He is survived by two sons, James Zabik of South Hadley and John Zabik of Converse, TX; his grandchildren: Jennifer, Alexandria, James, and Andrew; his great-granddaughter, Mia; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Zabik. Besides his parents and his wife, Edwin was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy (Zabik) Nierer, and a brother, Eugene Zabik. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Committal with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
